How it works

We've got storytelling down to an art - let's walk you through our process

1

Discovery Meeting

When schools reach out, you'll be invited for a discovery meeting. This is to ascertain if a school is ready for the project and if they have the makings of a story. At this point we make a plan about starting or 'getting ready', or we make a plan as to how to get your school to the right stage for a project.

Contract Signed

Once we know we have a story to be told, the school is issued with a contract and all the obligations of both parties are unpacked and agreed to. The school selects the scope of the project and a realistic timeline on your terms.

'Join the Dots' Meeting

We begin researching the story by gathering all the evidence together, what do we know, what do we want to say and what do we need to find out? We answer the question: What is it that the children of this place need to know?

Research and Writing

Our creative team gets to work sorting and researching information for the story. They add to local stories, research via museums, open source government documents, local archives and whatever, wherever and with whoever the research pathway takes them. Our writer comes up with a 'first draft' of the story to present to the stakeholders group. Then we begin the collaborative process of editing, writing and checking information.

5

Illustration

Once we’ve co-created your local story, we engage an illustrator to visually bring it to life. We offer flexible options:

  • Work with a local artist from your community (we can connect them with our lead illustrator for guidance)

  • Use one of our professional illustrators from our brilliantly talented team

The stakeholders group are given 'sketches' to approve and when the final illustrations are complete, they are able to offer feedback and request a round of edits. We keep the process simple, collaborative and community-focused every step of the way.

6

Story Translated

If you have wanted to add resources to your basket that support other languages (ie AusLan, Mandarin, Afrikaans, Hindi) - Then we set about getting this done for you. Our team collaborates with local language experts to create quality assured, authentic, curriculum-aligned resources tailored to your needs!

School Approval

We then send everything back to the school to approve with their community. Here we make any further revisions before finalising the resources.

Resources Created

Now we have a story and a set of 8 images, the our team set about creating your assets. Depending on what you decide to add to your resources, we source the experts and pull this together for you.

9

School Launch

This can look however you want!  A teacher meeting, a stakeholder celebration, a book launch, or sharing at your school wide jubilee, we work on this together, get dates in and plan for the launch of the story.
